The Kenya Tea Growers Association (KTGA) represents large-scale tea producers in Kenya from both public and private tea companies, with membership drawn primarily from tea plantations in Kericho, Sotik, Nandi, and Kiambu Counties.
The Association is committed to advocating for members' interests in sustainable tea farming, high-quality manufacturing and fair labour practices.
KTGA seeks to recruit a qualified, motivated, and detail-oriented individual for the position of Legal and Industrial Relations Assistant.
Role Summary
The Legal and Industrial Relations Assistant will provide legal, industrial relations, and administrative support to the Secretariat, including research, documentation, coordination, record management, and monitoring of legal and policy matters affecting the Association and its members.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal, legislative, regulatory, and policy research and prepare internal briefs and reports to support the Association's advocacy functions.
- Assist with matters relating to labour and industrial relations, including employment law compliance and policy monitoring.
- Provide administrative and secretarial support, including preparing reports, minutes, correspondence, advisories, and communications.
- Maintain, organize, and digitize operational records and key documents.
- Support internal operational processes by ensuring the Secretariat is effectively supported through day-to-day administrative coordination.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience in legal support, paralegal, or administrative work.
Skills, Competencies, and Attributes
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Legal competency in legislative review and regulatory monitoring
- Outstanding written and spoken communication abilities.
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Keen interest and passion for employment and labour relations.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
