LOAN RECOVERY OFFICER
Job Title: Loan Recovery Officer
Department: Credit & Collections
Reports To: Recovery Manager / Credit Manager
Job Purpose
To recover delinquent loans by engaging customers, negotiating repayment arrangements, and implementing effective recovery strategies while maintaining compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor loan portfolios to identify overdue accounts.
- Contact customers through telephone calls, emails, letters, and field visits to recover outstanding debts.
- Negotiate repayment plans and settlements in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of recovery activities and customer engagements.
- Prepare periodic recovery reports and portfolio analyses.
- Liaise with legal service providers, auctioneers, and repossession agents where necessary.
- Recommend accounts for restructuring, write-off, or legal action where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with debt collection regulations and ethical recovery practices.
- Resolve customer queries relating to overdue accounts.
- Support initiatives aimed at reducing portfolio delinquency and improving loan performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Finance, Business Administration, Banking, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–3 years' experience in loan recovery, debt collection, or credit management.
- Knowledge of Kenyan lending regulations and debt recovery practices.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
