Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and control logistics operations, policies, procedures, and activities to maximize efficiency, reliability, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness of logistics operations.
  • Serve as the focal point of contact for KONE and Logistics Service Providers for operations including materials volume planning and control, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, customs clearance, regulatory authorities’ approvals, transport, and distribution.
  • Identify, drive, and execute continuous improvement and variable cost productivity (VCP) projects, ensuring data completeness and accuracy for reporting purposes.
  • Establish KPIs and SLAs for transit and delivery times, inventory levels, transportation costs, warehousing costs, and service standards, and monitor the operational performance of external and internal parties against these metrics.
  • Maintain and timely report data analytics and dashboards for metric visibility and communication.
  • Conduct timely cycle counts and physical inventory to ensure KPIs are met, driving inventory integrity.
  • Support the review of project-level logistics cost budgets (pre-calc).
  • Report operational performance data to the Regional Manager.
  • Execute logistics safety programs with internal functions and external service parties, such as logistics service providers.
  • Plan and organize the transport of materials from distribution centres (DC) to frontline (FL), handling logistics service providers and customs/broker-related information management.
  • Manage clearance-related activities and ensure broker compliance.
  • Plan and order delivery of materials from local warehouses to sites.
  • Coordinate logistics execution with locally outsourced logistics providers, if applicable, and monitor provider performance.
  • Manage the consolidation of local materials for site delivery and coordinate site delivery of installation tools.
  • Order transportation or additional services from logistics providers as requested.
  • Review invoices/PO differences, clarify discrepancies, and manage the correct posting of logistics costs to cost categories and projects.
  • Ensure replenishment for stock material.
  • Provide support to Frontline and Area Logistics Manager to manage frontline logistics performance and ensure timely support and information to technicians, supervisors, and project managers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in logistics operations, preferably in engineering, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven experience working with ERP systems, especially SAP (MM module) (preferred).
  • Deep understanding of logistics operations, inventory control processes, storage practices, and supply chain principles with a solid understanding of HSE protocols and compliance.
  • Familiarity with customs documentation, local regulatory compliance, and import/export procedures in East Africa (essential).
  • Experience working in a multinational environment in Kenya.
  • Knowledge of Lean Methodologies, 5S methodology, or Six Sigma concepts.
  • Prior experience with elevators, construction, or spare parts logistics is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent communication and presentation skills, keen attention to detail, and accuracy in logistics operations and reporting.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and a hands-on, solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word).
