Responsibilities or duties

Supply chain & operations:

  • Support end to end Supply Chain Management (SCM), including planning, transport, warehousing, distribution & pipeline management.
  • Coordinate the movement & storage of Core Relief Items (CRI) & other commodities from distribution warehouses to field locations.
  • Maintain & update stock records using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or equivalent inventory tools.
  • Support transport planning & fleet management using Transport Management Systems (TMS) & other tracking tools.
  • Coordinate humanitarian cargo through appropriate transport modality like air transport, road transport, sea / ocean freight & / or river or barge transport where relevant.

Compliance, quality & vendor management:

  • Support procurement processes including Requests For Quotation (RFQ) & Requests For Proposal (RFP) for transport & warehousing services.
  • Ensure compliance with International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS) & local customs & import / export regulations.
  • Apply Good Distribution Practices (GDP) & other Good “X” Practices (GXP) when managing food, medical or temperature sensitive cargo.
  • Contribute to the development & use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on time delivery, loss / damage rates & utilisation.

Coordination & reporting:

  • Coordinate with the logistics cluster, UN agencies, NGOs & national authorities as required.
  • Prepare movement plans, stock reports & situation updates for internal & external stakeholders.
  • Support contingency planning & pre positioning of stocks ahead of seasonal or anticipated shocks.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, engineering or a related field.

Experience needed

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience (opportunities for higher years’ experience also exists) in logistics or supply chain operations.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in humanitarian or emergency settings.
  • Experience in warehousing, transport, fleet management, port operations or similar.
