Manager, Human Resources

The Rockefeller Foundation seeks an experienced Manager, Human Resources to join the Africa Regional Office.
The position will support the Director, Human Resources in the Africa Regional office and will be responsible for leading recruitment for departments, expanding recruitment sources, guiding employees on performance management process, administering benefits plans and programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting roll out of new HR systems. The HR Manager will also support the HR Director on matters of policy interpretation and application for local and when applicable international- employment laws and internal HR policies.
This position requires frequent work with confidential information including employee information, compensation, and benefits.
We are currently fully remote, but once restrictions ease, this position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for full-life cycle recruitment needs of the Foundation; work with hiring managers to understand the competencies and experiences required for successful performance in the vacant position; develop a recruitment strategy.
• Effective sourcing and screening approaches to ensure candidates presented to hiring managers for vacancies meet the competency requirements for the role, including sourcing/searching through social media outlets, using internal referrals and cold calling to source and network with prospective candidates; advertising and sourcing internal and external candidates; screening; interviewing; and evaluating candidates against the agreed competency profile.
• Manage applicant tracking system and ensure integrity of data and compliance with internal procedures; ensure timely production of new hire paperwork, including the review of offer letters for accuracy, and completion of all necessary HR paperwork to close out recruitment files; provide strategic insight on better ways to use systems and track candidates.
• Manage operational efficiency of the HR Recruitment unit, including assuring timely job postings, synergies between hiring managers and other recruitment professionals, administrative staff and the HR team, efficient and effective compliance with internal procedures and processes.
• Participation in career fairs, college information sessions and internal outreach initiatives designed to inform relative to recruitment processes; participate in other outreach initiatives as appropriate; maintain knowledge of local employment laws.
• Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics and prepare HR reports.
• Manage and coordinate visa and work permits for international staff.
• Identify training needs of staff through the annual Performance Appraisal process and on-going discussions with staff, and coordinate the appropriate training for each staff member, partnering where useful with NY HR.
• Assist managers and employees with compensation and pay-related issues to ensure fair and equitable application of compensation policy; support the performance management cycle and ensure all employees receive formal and written annual reviews.
• Provide HR Administration support including benefits and leave system administration.
• Support the HR Director in driving employee engagement.

Education, Experience and Skills
• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in a related field, Master’s degree highly desired.
• Five to seven years of related HR generalist experience with at least three years’ experience in a managerial role.
• Demonstrated talent acquisition experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work with all levels within the organization and with a diverse employee population.
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MSWord, Excel and HRIS/HRMS.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Experience administering performance review processes.
• Analytical skills and detail orientation.

Location and Work Authorization
This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
