About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Accounts Manager to join our team at Transwasco, a leading transport company based in Kitale, Kenya. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing strategic financial guidance to the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinating implementation of financial regulations, policies, strategies and plans.
- Coordinating preparation of annual budgets in liaison with Research, Planning and Strategy Division;
- Ensuring effective and efficient use of financial resources.
- Ensuring maintenance of proper books of accounts and other financial records.
- Ensuring maintenance of accurate and complete financial records of the Company and regularly review the financial system.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable financial statutory obligations and circulars.
- Ensuring financial systems are fully implemented to serve the objectives and goals of the organization.
- Ensuring preparation and submitting of financial statutory reports.
- Ensuring timely, accurate preparation of expenditure reports from departments and sections;
- Preparing Divisional Board Papers.
- Coordinating budget implementation, monitoring and review.
- Coordinating preparation of the financial reports, financial statements and submission to relevant institutions.
- Managing accounting information, which includes coordination and rationalization of estimates, annual appropriation and fund accounts, cash flow control and cost analysis;
- Coordinating the staff training and development in the division.
- Setting targets for the accountants and evaluating achievements.
- Coordinating staff appraisal and performance management.
- Coordinating performance contract implementation for the division.
- Organizing and coordinating responses to internal and external audit queries;
- Interpreting financial policies, regulations, and procedures for sound accounting principles, practices and control and management of corporate tax, vat and other statutory deductions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or business management (Finance or Accounting option), Commerce (Finance or Accounting option) or other equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.
- Master’s degree in business administration or business management (Finance or Accounting option), Commerce (Finance or Accounting option) or other equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution will be an added advantage.
- Certified Public Accountants (CPA K) or equivalent from recognized institution.
- Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and in good standing.
- Ten (10) years’ cumulative relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been as a Principal Officer or comparable position.
- Certificate of Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution.
- Certificate in computer applications.
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
* Manage and oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. * Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. * Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for management and stakeholders. * Manage cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure optimal liquidity. * Lead and mentor the finance and accounts team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. * Collaborate with other departments to develop and manage budgets, and monitor financial performance against targets. * Identify and implement cost-saving measures and financial efficiencies. * Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and supported by adequate documentation. * Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.

* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. * Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly desirable. * Proven experience as a Finance and Accounts Manager or in a similar senior finance role. * Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws. * Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. * Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. * Strong leadership and team management abilities. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Experience in the transport industry is an added advantage.
