Background

The African Management Initiative (AMI) is building Africa’s leading platform for business and leadership learning. Through our market-leading tech+touch training products, strong on-the-ground presence in eight countries, and trusted partnerships with some of the continent’s most ambitious organisations, AMI Enterprise is poised for significant growth.

Our clients include leading African and global companies such as Uber, Standard Chartered, MTN, Access Group, M-Kopa, Heirs Holdings, RwandAir, Weetabix, and many more.

We are now seeking an exceptional Managing Director, AMI Enterprise to scale this business unit into the premier provider of tech-forward corporate learning and executive education for Africa’s professionals.

Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on AMI’s Executive Leadership Team, the Managing Director will own the strategy, commercial growth, product positioning, and P&L responsibility for AMI Enterprise — building a true pan-African learning powerhouse across both Anglophone and Francophone markets. AMI Enterprise is the newer of AMI's two operating units, with both drawing on world-class central learning, product, technical and marketing teams.

This is a rare opportunity to lead Africa’s most respected B2B learning platforms at a moment of major scale-up, shaping how the continent’s top organisations invest in talent and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Leadership

  • Refine and execute the growth strategy for AMI Enterprise across Africa - in line with overall business strategy
  • Position AMI Enterprise as the clear market leader in corporate learning and leadership development
  • Drive ambitious expansion plans, scaling across priority enterprise markets

Product & Market Offering

  • Partner closely with AMI’s product and learning teams to continually evolve the enterprise portfolio
  • Lead pricing and positioning to meet the needs of diverse corporate and growth-stage clients
  • Ensure AMI’s offerings remain best-in-class, practical, and commercially compelling

Commercial Growth & Enterprise Sales

  • Own revenue growth and delivery against ambitious sales targets
  • Lead enterprise business development, leveraging personal networks and cultivating new strategic relationships
  • Build scalable lead generation and sales systems across multiple African markets
  • Represent AMI with senior stakeholders at industry forums, conferences, and partner events

Finance, Operations & Delivery Excellence

  • Own delivery against P&L targets set with CEO/CFO
  • Ensure world-class programme delivery and client satisfaction at scale
  • Work with senior operational and functional leaders to drive excellence end-to-end

Team & Organisational Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing, cross-functional, multi-country team spanning sales, marketing, learning, and programme delivery
  • Build a strong performance culture in collaboration with country managers and group functional leads
  • Recruit, coach, and inspire leaders who can deliver growth across markets

What Success Will Look Like

In the first 12–18 months, success will include:

  • Significant growth in enterprise revenue, renewals, and client partnerships
  • A strengthened sales and delivery engine capable of scaling sustainably
  • Learners who love and advocate for AMI, and clients who view AMI as their trusted partner
