Market Research Consultant (Multiple Positions) at CPHRM Group
Position Description
We seek a Market Research Consultant with a sharp eye for identifying high-potential business opportunities based on local market dynamics. The ideal candidate will assess specific geographic locations to determine the most viable business ventures and conduct deep-dive competitive analyses for those proposed concepts.
You’ll help clients and partners answer key questions like:
“What’s the best business to set up here—and what will it take to compete?”
Role and Responsibilities
Location-Based Opportunity Assessment
- Evaluate demographic, economic, and behavioural data to recommend business opportunities for specific towns, cities, or regions.
- Develop location-specific feasibility analyses, including customer segmentation and income/spending patterns.
- Analyse market gaps, unmet demand, and product-market fit across geographies.
Competitive Landscape Analysis
- Map and profile competitors operating in the same business category or location.
- Identify pricing structures, value propositions, distribution tactics, and marketing strategies used by competitors.
- Conduct SWOT analyses or benchmarking assessments to define client positioning.
Data Collection & Synthesis
- Lead desk research and field-based data collection (if required) through surveys, interviews, or observations.
- Collaborate with local teams or enumerators to validate on-ground insights.
- Translate findings into actionable business intelligence, models, or strategic recommendations.
Client Delivery & Reporting
- Prepare clear reports, slide decks, and briefs outlining opportunities and risks.
- Present findings to internal teams, clients, or investors in strategic and compelling formats.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in market research, business feasibility analysis, or strategic advisory.
- Strong understanding of African consumer markets, MSME ecosystems, and regional business dynamics.
- Excellent research design, data interpretation, and report writing skills.
- Bonus: GIS, Excel modelling, Tableau/Power BI, or familiarity with small business operations.
