Murang’a County is one of the five counties in the Central region of the Republic of Kenya. It is bordered to the North by Nyeri, to the South by Kiambu, to the West by Nyandarua and to the East by Kirinyaga, Embu and Machakos counties.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Be a Kenyan citizen not over the age of 35 years
  • Be in possession of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Techniciansand Technologist Board (KMLTTB) acquired within the last twenty-four (24) months
  • Registration Certificate issued by KMLTTB
  • Valid practicing license from KMLTTB
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

Experience needed

  • Not have benefited from a similar internship program or been exposed to work experience related to their area of study since graduating.
  • Not have exited from formal employment.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Cleaning and sterilizing laboratory glassware, surfaces, and equipment; documenting and receiving samples for analysis;
  • Preparing laboratory reagents;
  • Carrying out chemical/microbiological analysis on samples (food, water, wastewater, and beverages);
  • Extracting, isolating, and identifying drugs, pesticides, and heavy metals from biological and miscellaneous samples; and disposing of laboratory waste.
  • Performing any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
