Requirements for appointment
- Be a citizen of Kenya;
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from a university recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
- Be a holder of a Master of Medicine Degree in Anesthesia from a university recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
- Must have served as Medical Specialist II for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
- Must have a valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Duties and responsibilities
The Anaesthesiologist will be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following;
- Providing anaesthesia with full range of anaesthetic agents, methods and techniques
- Administering pain relief before, during and after medical procedures when necessary ;
- Monitoring patients’ vital signs during procedures when need be;
- Supervising Anesthesia Assistants and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists;
- Approving general, sedative, regional or local anesthetics;
- Reviewing medical files and laboratory results for patients;
- Informing patients of risks associated with anesthesia;
- Complying with medical and hospital policies and
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

- For those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.
