Purpose of the role
Facilitate the delivery of the MindSKILLZ programme to equip adolescents with social and emotional skills, strengthen resilience, promote positive mental well-being, and ensure timely identification and referral of participants requiring additional mental health and psychosocial support.
Responsibilities or duties
- Support participant recruitment: Collaborate with Lvcthealth staff, schools, youth groups, and community structures to identify, recruit, and enroll eligible adolescents into the MindSKILLZ programme.
- Complete coach training: Successfully complete the MindSKILLZ Training of Coaches (ToC), including modules on adolescent mental health, facilitation skills, safeguarding, monitoring and evaluation, and referral pathways.
- Facilitate MindSKILLZ sessions: Deliver the full MindSKILLZ curriculum using play-based, strengths-based, and youth-centered approaches that promote active participation, social and emotional learning, and positive mental well-being.
- Prepare for programme delivery:Review session guides, organize materials, and ensure all activities, learning resources, and equipment are available before each session.
- Co-facilitate effectively: Work collaboratively with the assigned coaching partner to plan, deliver, reflect on, and continuously improve programme sessions.
- Promote participant safety and well-being: Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment; recognize signs of emotional distress; and respond appropriately within the scope of training while following established safeguarding procedures.
- Facilitate referrals: Identify participants requiring additional support and facilitate timely referrals to appropriate mental health, psychosocial, health, and social services in accordance with Lvcthealth referral protocols.
- Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning: Administer programme assessments, maintain accurate attendance and participant records, collect high-quality monitoring data, and submit reports within established timelines.
- Maintain communication and supervision: Participate in routine supervision, provide implementation updates, promptly communicate challenges, and seek technical guidance when required.
- Manage programme resources: Safeguard and maintain the MindSKILLZ Coach Kit, training materials, and other programme resources to ensure they remain available and fit for use.
- Uphold professional and ethical standards: Adhere to the MindSKILLZ Code of Conduct, safeguarding policies, confidentiality requirements, and Lvcthealth values while demonstrating professionalism, respect, and accountability in all interactions.

- Education & compliance
- At least a Diploma in Social Sciences or a closely related field.
- Only successful candidates will be required to submit a valid Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct) as part of the pre-employment requirements.
- Near-peer: 18–35 years old
- Able to commit 4–6 hours per week to the programme for the duration of the intervention cycle
- Must be available to attend the full Training of Coaches (ToC)
- A recommendation letter from a recognized community leader in the Nairobi or Mombasa County where you reside.
