Role Overview:

The Mortuary Science Tutor will provide comprehensive theoretical and practical training to students in mortuary science, ensuring alignment with the TVET CDACC curriculum. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mortuary practices, embalming techniques, and forensic pathology, along with a passion for educating future mortuary science professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training in mortuary science topics (e.g., embalming techniques, forensic pathology, body preservation, funeral management).
  2. Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments tailored to the TVET CDACC curriculum.
  3. Supervise students during practical sessions in mortuary labs and industry attachments.
  4. Evaluate student performance through tests, practical assessments, and projects.
  5. Mentor students in academic, professional, and ethical practices within mortuary science.
  6. Maintain mortuary equipment and ensure compliance with health, safety, and ethical standards.
  7. Participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings, and institutional initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or Higher Diploma in Mortuary Science, Forensic Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching/training experience in mortuary science or a related field (TVET experience preferred).
  • Proven ability to teach the TVET CDACC curriculum effectively.
  • Registration with TVETA and KSTVET Certification (Pedagogy) is an added advantage.
  • Industry experience in mortuary practices, embalming, or forensic pathology is required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and mentorship skills.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and ethical considerations in mortuary science.
