Description

Tatu City is looking to hire a Nurseries Officer to support tree, ornamental and grasses nursery operations, including seed and cuttings collection, propagation, maintenance, and supply of healthy plants for landscaping, conservation, and reforestation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propagate trees, grasses and ornamental plants through seed collection, cuttings, and other vegetative methods
  • Maintain nursery stock through watering, weeding, potting, pruning, and pest control
  • Monitor plant health, growth rates, and survival within the nursery
  • Prepare plants for dispatch to project or conservation sites
  • Maintain nursery infrastructure, tools, and irrigation systems
  • Keep accurate nursery records including species, quantities, and growth stages
  • Support environmental and landscaping teams with plant supply planning
  • Innovate and come up with ways to mechanize nursery operations
  • Work with City Manager and Head of Procurement to commercialise the Tatu City nursery
  • Ensure nursery practices comply with environmental and sustainability standards

Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in forestry, horticulture, nursery management, or related field
  • Experience working in a tree and ornamental plants nursery
  • Knowledge of indigenous tree and ornamental plants species and propagation techniques
  • Attention to detail and strong plant care skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
