JOB DETAILS:


The Online Community Officer is our digital point person and will enhance Busara’s reach and reputation by; communicating our work in an authentic way that will attract and grow our stakeholder engagement and track and keep our touchpoints relevant for both internal and external interested parties.

They will do this by applying their professional rigor and communication expertise to cultivate the Busara online community, including audience, stakeholders, and ‘Busarians’ (employees) on all social channels, plan and report on our online community engagement (including all social media channels and the website), its impact and value to potential and existing stakeholders and contribute to our publication and broader engagement strategy.

The ideal candidate views the internet as their playground, is curious about best practices, savvy, and creative about content management while steeped in debates that are relevant to Busara’s work. A passionate communicator who genuinely enjoys and thrives operating and strategizing in the digital space while being deeply committed to improving the ways we often communicate complicated research findings.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Detail a clear digital plan of action with steps, milestones, deliverables, and dates to track communication efforts
• Develop relevant content topics and strategies to disseminate Busara outputs and our online reputation
• Create and implement a regular publishing schedule and content calendar around relevant hooks to promote and manage content
• Curate the Busara audience by identifying relevant stakeholders, thinkers, processes
• Inform planning of specific and timely dissemination campaigns through social advertising
• Plan online community growing activities for Busara events (campaigns, live tweeting, among others)
• Collaborate with the design and projects teams to leverage the right tools to manage content, drive visibility and create online engagement opportunities
• Use analytics to measure and identify Busara’s audience growth, engagement, profile, content reach, and leads to establish ROI and inform strategy
• Identify best practice and trends with regard to social media as well as topic areas relevant to Busara - your default setting is always reading and learning to keep up with evolving channels
• Create a schedule and keep the website content updated with case studies, deliverables, blogs, press releases, staff profiles, among others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
We are looking for candidates with:

• The ability to quickly understand Busara’s business and organizational culture and how to use communications, testing, and design to support that culture
• The ability to research diverse topics, figure out best practice, and outline/propose a digital plan to execute
• The ability to experiment on social media placement, test alternatives, and make data-driven recommendations on the right mix for our client journey in B2C and B2B context
• Clear, proactive communication skills, and ability to set expectations for timeline and scope of work
• The ability to work with and inspire people from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences
• 3 years of relevant social media experience within creative or branding agencies or a mix of agency and in-house experience.
• Proven track record of success in managing content and social media engagement across a portfolio of industries
• Expert level skills in google suite and Microsoft office
• Excellent writer in English; other languages a plus
• Solid understanding of web practices, digital platforms, SEO, channel analytics, and content development
• Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively.
• Excellent organizer who reliably plans and tracks execution of Busara’s engagement and outreach strategies
