Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Optometrist to join our growing team. The Optometrist will be responsible for examining patients' eyes, diagnosing vision problems and eye diseases, and prescribing appropriate treatments and corrective lenses. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and a desire to contribute to our mission of making healthcare accessible.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to detect vision defects and eye diseases.
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses (eyeglasses and contact lenses).
- Diagnose and manage common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for eye surgery patients.
- Educate patients on eye health and preventative care measures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document all findings and treatments.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Optometry or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and practicing license from the Kenya Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board (KODOB).
- Proven experience as an Optometrist, preferably in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
