Job Title: Optometrist

Department: Eye Clinic / Optical Services

Reports To: Head of Clinical Services

Job Purpose:

To provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision testing, diagnosis of eye diseases, and prescribing corrective lenses or therapies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect ocular diseases.
  • Diagnose and manage conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, and refractive errors.
  • Prescribe and dispense corrective eyewear (glasses and contact lenses).
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for eye surgery patients.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care and preventative measures.
  • Maintain ophthalmic equipment and ensure it is in good working order.
  • Keep accurate and detailed patient records.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor of Optometry from a recognized institution.
  • Licensing: Must be registered and hold a valid practicing license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
  • High level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
  • Empathy and patience when dealing with patients.
