Job Summary

The Pharmaceutical Technologist will be responsible for dispensing medications, managing pharmaceutical inventory, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy services in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and verify prescription information and confirm appropriate dosage before dispensing medications.
  • Dispense and supply medications to both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Maintain proper storage, handling, and security of pharmaceutical products.
  • Provide medication-related information and guidance to patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Establish and maintain accurate patient medication profiles, including records of prescribed medicines.
  • Order, label, count, and manage medication stock and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Update inventory records and maintain accurate data within the pharmacy management system.
  • Compute charges and process billing for medications and medical equipment dispensed to patients and clients.
  • Ensure pharmacy safety by adhering to infection prevention and control procedures, organizational policies, and relevant regulations.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • A Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • A valid Enrollment Certificate issued by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • A valid Practising Licence.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a busy pharmacy setting.
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and prescription information.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and hospital policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software is an added advantage.
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Proven experience as a Pharmaceutical Technologist.
