Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adequate stocks available for all pharmaceutical items in line with the hospital policies
  • Maintain hospital wide pharmacy inventory, ensuring no stock outs, adherence to the tender and placing orders to the suppliers
  • Ensuring all suppliers/distributors are in line with PPB regulations and all products are registered with PPB
  • Approve all pharmaceutical items orders being sent out to suppliers
  • Prepare reports
  • Generate and capture fill rates to all the departments
  • Checking expiry dates of medicines
  • Create minimum reorder levels for pharmacy stores
  • Communication to the relevant departments with regards to stock outs and appropriate alternatives
  • Member of pharmaceutical tender committee

Key Performance Indicators

  • Percentage of stock outs for pharmaceutical items
  • Overall inventory of pharmaceutical items across the hospital
  • Fill rates for orders supplied from MMD
  • Audit score on medication storage
  • Expiry value
  • Variance level
  • Compliance to formulary
  • Compliance to tender
  • JCI audit score

Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
  • Valid membership with PSK and a valid practicing license
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in a hospital
  • Ensure adequate stocks available for all pharmaceutical items in line with the hospital policies
