PHARMACIST

Duty Station: St Raphael Archangel Health Center Emmaus

Job Purpose

The Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medicines at the Health Center. The role includes dispensing medicines, providing medication counselling, maintaining pharmaceutical records, and supporting rational medicine use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescribed medicines accurately and safely.
  • Review prescriptions for appropriate dosage, interactions, contraindications, and other potential medication-related concerns.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use, dosage, duration, storage, and possible side effects.
  • Promote rational and safe use of medicines.
  • Maintain accurate records of medicines dispensed and pharmaceutical transactions.
  • Monitor medicine stock levels and ensure appropriate storage and handling of medicines.
  • Check medicines for expiry dates, quality, and proper storage conditions.
  • Assist in ordering and replenishment of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Monitor controlled and restricted medicines in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Identify and report medication-related problems or adverse drug reactions appropriately.
  • Work closely with clinicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide information and guidance on medicines to patients and healthcare staff where appropriate.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and security of the pharmacy.
  • Participate in quality improvement and health education activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant pharmaceutical laws, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Health Center management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant academic and professional qualification in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional regulatory authority.
  • Must possess a valid practicing licence.
  • Relevant working experience will be an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of pharmaceutical practices, medicine management, and dispensing procedures.
  • Strong communication, counselling, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
