We are seeking a qualified Specialist Physician—ideally in Internal Medicine or a related field—to work within our psychiatric hospital. Reporting to Clinical Services Manager and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll manage physical health conditions that often present alongside psychiatric care. The ideal candidate should have 6 months to 1 year of theatre experience, adding valuable skills to our integrated clinical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for admitted patients in a psychiatric setting.
  • Support the psychiatric team by managing chronic illnesses, acute medical conditions, and overseeing perioperative care.
  • Initiate and follow up on sonography and other diagnostic imaging referrals, integrating results into patient care.
  • Participate actively in multi-disciplinary team meetings, contributing medical insights to psychiatric treatment strategies.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation aligned with clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and assist in stabilizing patients within the facility.
  • Collaborate in developing and updating clinical protocols tailored to the psychiatric environment.
  • Provide patient education and engage with families or caregivers on health-related matters.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Full registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Completion of internship and 6–12 months post-internship experience including theatre exposure.
  • Postgraduate training or specialist status in Internal Medicine, or equivalent recognized by KMPDC.
  • Clinical competence, strong judgment, and professionalism.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and empathetic patient-centered care approach.
  • Candidates with 6 months to 1 year of theatre experience will have an added advantage.
  • Please ensure this experience is clearly highlighted in your CV, if applicable.
