We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced Plumbing Estimator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive plumbing estimates for commercial construction projects using QuickPlumb software. This role involves reviewing project drawings and specifications, performing material and labor takeoffs, obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing, and developing comprehensive bid proposals.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of plumbing systems, construction estimating, and project costing, with the ability to manage multiple bids while maintaining a high level of accuracy and meeting strict submission deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate plumbing estimates using QuickPlumb estimating software.
- Review project blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Perform accurate material, labor, and equipment quantity takeoffs.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop complete project budgets, cost estimates, and bid proposals.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project competitiveness while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain and update current pricing databases for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Coordinate with Project Managers during project handover to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings when required.
- Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted within established bid deadlines.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve estimating processes and cost accuracy.
- Stay current with plumbing codes, industry standards, and market pricing trends.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in plumbing estimating, preferably within commercial construction projects.
- Proven proficiency with QuickPlumb Estimating Software.
- Strong ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, blueprints, and construction specifications.
- Excellent understanding of plumbing systems, installation methods, construction practices, and applicable plumbing codes.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimating projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating healthcare, education, multifamily residential, industrial, or institutional projects.
- Knowledge of BIM, Revit, or digital plan takeoff software.
- Previous field experience in plumbing installation or construction is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with construction procurement and subcontractor management.
