Background

EAFF is a non-political, non-profit and a democratic apex organization of all Farmers of Eastern Africa. Its role is to voice legitimate concerns and interests of farmers of the region with the aim of enhancing regional cohesiveness and social-economic status of the farmers.

The Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF) is looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated candidate to fill the position of Policy and Advocacy Officer, responsible for managing EAFF’s policy and advocacy department.

Qualifications

LEVEL Master’s degree

FIELD(S) Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Political Science, or related field

Experience

Preference will be given to those with experience in NGOs

Location

Based in Nairobi

CONTRACT & START

3-year renewable employment contract, with possibility of extension.

Desired start: as soon as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

Requisite Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in policy analysis, advocacy and policy-related program management

Strong understanding of agricultural policy frameworks and farmer organization dynamics

Experience working with government institutions and multi-stakeholder platforms

Proven ability to write high-quality policy briefs and reports

• Developing and implementing the EAFF policy and advocacy master plan
• Building capacity of member organizations in the area of policy and advocacy
• Implementing programs and projects related to policy and advocacy
• Representing EAFF at regional, continental and international events of a policy nature
• Contributing to fund-raising through new projects and programs
• Performing other activities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
