<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Reporting to the Presiding Officer, the <strong>POLLING/COUNTING CLERK</strong> will carry out the following duties;</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Assist in laying out of the polling station and counting room.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Demarcate and display posters at the polling station.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Control queues and guide voters to respective polling station.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Confirm that a voter has not voted by inspecting their fingers for indelible marks.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Identify voters before allowing them to vote.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Issue stamped ballot papers to voters duly identified in the register of voters.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Assist the Presiding Officer with the sorting of votes after voting as part of counting</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the Presiding officer.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Requirements for Appointment</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Kenyan citizen of high integrity, and be non-partisan;</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">KCSE Aggregate C- and above;</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Must be of good character and;</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Must be available for the entire period of the exercise; and</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Resident of the Constituency/County Assembly Ward in which they apply for.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Wages</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Polling Clerks/Counting Clerks will be paid <strong>Kshs. </strong><strong>1,000 </strong>per day</span></p></div>
<div itemprop='responsibilities' style='display:none'>Distribution and dissemination of the voter education material in Schools, Churches/mosques, Health centers, Markets, Community centers, Farms, business centers etc
Liaise with local stakeholders, relevant authorities and community leaders to facilitate voter education activities.
Conduct voter education in the County Assembly Ward.
Act as a link between the IEBC Constituency Election Coordinators, CSO’s, CBO’s and the community.
Assess public understanding of matters related to electoral activity at hand in the ward.
Monitor and evaluate voter education providers in the ward.
Prepare and submit weekly activity reports to the Constituency voter educator, and
Any other assignment as directed by the immediate supervisor.</div>
