Job Purpose

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. This role involves strategic planning and the implementation of continuous improvement practices to optimize manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Production Scheduling

  • Daily planning of kanbans with value stream supervisors.
  • Shift planning with HR on a weekly basis.
  • Liaise with stores to ensure adequate raw materials.
  • Ensure MTO is supplied within agreed timelines as per customer specifications.
  • Ensure machine availability.
  • Establish and implement work standards for each cell.

Production Reporting & Analysis

  • Daily confirmation of production OEE reports.
  • Daily confirmation of supervisors’ reports regarding materials input and kgs output.
  • Check variances in production through kgs input and output.
  • Daily production reviews with Q.C regarding rejects and rework.
  • Daily reviews with Kaizen coordinator on kaizen projects.

Manpower Productivity & Training

  • Ensure skilled manpower placed in the right cell position.
  • Carry out roles’ reviews on a monthly basis with HR to establish training needs.
  • Identify employees to be trained and liaise with HR to ensure training is done.
  • Implement skills improvement plans and training where required.
  • Optimize manpower utilization to keep cost per man-hour within budgeted levels.

Continuous Improvement Projects

  • Lead 5S projects.
  • Lead TPM projects.
  • Implement visual management (boards and floor marking for tracking kanban-wise input availability, progress, and creating PULL system).

Customer Complaints Resolution & Quality Standards

  • Conduct monthly Pareto analysis for topmost frequent customer complaints followed with RCA and preventive measures.
  • Ensure final product meets quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Recommend cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
  • Come up with waste reduction methods and implement during production.

Management & Reporting

  • Daily reviews with Q.C, supervisors, and Kaizen coordinator.
  • Update Goal sheets for Supervisors and operators; establish monthly reviews and adhere to review standards.
  • Daily reporting to the Operations Manager / General Manager.
  • Monthly System/Stock Count with Variance report to be submitted by 3rd of every month.
  • Monthly Variance explanation report to be submitted by 8th of every month.
  • Oversee update of Daily Production Report (OEE, Cost, Kg, etc.) by Production Clerk.
  • Prepare Incident Reports (Breakdown/Injury/Machine Not Running/Under-performance Breakthrough discussion).

Qualification and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Printing Engineering, Operations, or Business Administration.
  • Master’s in Business Administration is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role, preferably in the printing industry.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Six Sigma or Kaizen methodologies.
  • Knowledge of OEE, TPM, and 5S principles.
  • Strong understanding of production planning and scheduling.
  • Experience with variance analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Core Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
