Background

The MEI Project is a collaborative initiative between the University of Nairobi (UoN) and the University of York (UoY) funded by the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID). The project aims to strengthen research capacity in maternal and child health in Kenya. The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Nairobi is seeking to recruit a Project Data Analyst to support the MEI Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain databases for research data.
• Clean, process, and analyze research data using statistical software.
• Generate reports, visualizations, and summaries of research findings.
• Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and presentations.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the research process.
• Provide technical support to research staff on data management and analysis.
• Collaborate with the research team to define data collection protocols and analysis plans.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field.
• Proven experience in data analysis and management.
• Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SPSS, Stata, or SAS.
• Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in a research setting, particularly in maternal and child health, is an added advantage.
