Background
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is implementing the Youth Employment Program (YEP) in Kenya, a multi-year initiative aimed at enhancing youth employability and entrepreneurship. The program focuses on skills development, job placement, and support for youth-led enterprises.
Responsibilities
The Project Officer - Youth Employment will be responsible for the following:
- Support the implementation of YEP activities in line with project objectives and work plans.
- Coordinate with partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to ensure effective program delivery.
- Monitor project progress, collect data, and prepare regular reports on activities and outcomes.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops for youth participants.
- Assist in the identification of employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth.
- Contribute to the development of project materials and communication strategies.
- Ensure compliance with AKF policies and procedures.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in project management, youth development, or employment programs.
- Strong understanding of youth employment challenges and opportunities in Kenya.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience in project implementation, preferably in the development sector focusing on youth employment.
