Responsibilities or duties
Coordinate and provide technical support for the successful, planning and implementation of Tuimarishe Lishe Bora Shuleni program and support School Meals Advocacy initiatives in line with World Vision Kenya programming to ensure improved wellbeing outcomes of children in Kenya as guided by FY2026-2030 Strategy; World Vision’s global and national priorities, including the ENOUGH Campaign (2024–2028) and applicable policies guidelines.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
A bachelor’s degree in nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science, Early Childhood Development, or a related field from a recognized institution. A postgraduate degree or diploma in Project Management and/or Policy and Advocacy will be an added advantage.
Experience needed
At least 5 years’ experience 2 of which must be in any of the following; Food and Nutrition, Nutrition and Advocacy, School meals, policy and advocacy programming in NGOs.

Office environment 40% and 60% field activities within the National and Counties.
- Provide technical support and overall coordination, planning, implementing and evaluating the KeSMA- Tuimarishe Lishe Bora Shuleni program
- Facilitate Networking and collaborating with School Meal partners across project sites.
- Develop work-plans & budget (Detailed Implementation plans), Donor Reporting (Annual, Semi-annual and Quarterly) including documentation of best practices and success stories.
- Ensure school meals interventions are within schedule, plans and budgets and develop periodic reports.
- Mainstream interventions with gender, child protection and participation, disability and Christian values.
- Identify local needs and resources and take appropriate programming measures.
- Support timely mobilization and effective communication with communities and stakeholders during school meals mapping, monitoring and evaluation.
- Ensure monthly monitoring of project indicators and facilitate regular reflections with school meals coalition to make improvements with schools, community and partners.
- Lead development of school meals database for CSOs at National level.
- Ensure collection and collation of school meals information on database and share with relevant stakeholders.
- In liaison with M&E department ensure project evaluations and assessments are conducted as appropriate.
- Identify, document and disseminate promising practices on school meals advocacy within the grant.
- Participate and/convene County forums for sharing and learning while involving project stakeholders.
- Ensure the project achieves Child Well-Being Outcomes in line with the organization’s Ministry Framework and Development Approach, and WVK’s strategic priorities and the project designs.
- Ensure that accurate and quality project implementation plan (PIP), Annual work plans (AWP) and 4D matrix are developed and utilized.
- Monitor monthly project expenditure.
- Mapping local and County school meals stakeholders with distinct roles and functions within their areas of jurisdiction.
- Advocate for financing of school meals with the counties while in collaboration with other stakeholders.
- Advocate for cost effective context specific school meals implementation models across the selected counties.
- Support the convening of the school meals implementing CSOs to advocate for policies and guideline development for school with line ministries and counties.
- Support the advocacy for system strengthening for school meals across counties.
- Work with parent associations in schools and communities to advocate and participate in the provision of school meals at local schools.
- Engage children as advocates for school meals across the counties.
- In laison with school meals coalition, nutrition advisor, identify capacity building gaps among School meals implementing CSOs and put in place a capacity building plans.
- Lead the capacity building initiatives for School meals implementing CSOs, communities, parents and children to enable them effectively advocate for and implement school meals.
- Work with Grants acquisition department to develop concepts and proposals for growing the School Meals grants and related new projects
- Participate in Go-No Go Processes, write ups, meeting with prospective donors and submission of concepts/proposals
- Identify funding gaps related to school feeding and develop concepts for fundraising solicitation.
- Provide data and nutrition information that will aid in fundraising for available funding opportunities.
- Good analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Must have proven analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Proven ability to work with Government agencies, cultivate long term partnerships with National and County stakeholders, and local communities.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate training initiatives
- Should demonstrate ability to work in multicultural, multidenominational and multi-faith environments
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills

- Experience with NGO desired.
