Role Summary
The Pump Attendant is responsible for safe, accurate, and courteous dispensing of fuel products to customers while strictly adhering to Client’s HSSE standards, operational procedures, and customer service expectations. The role is frontline and mission-critical, directly impacting safety, revenue integrity, and brand reputation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fuel Dispensing & Forecourt Operations
- Dispense fuel accurately in accordance with customer instructions and station procedures.
- Ensure pump meters are reset to zero before each transaction.
- Handle PMS, IK, and other approved products strictly according to SOPs.
- Maintain orderly traffic flow and safe forecourt operations at all times.
2. HSSE Compliance & Safety Practices
- Strictly adhere to HSSEMS requirements, including PPE use and safe work practices.
- Monitor the forecourt for spills, leaks, fire hazards, or unsafe customer behavior.
- Immediately stop operations and report any safety hazards or incidents.
- Participate in safety briefings, drills, and toolbox talks.
3. Customer Service & Brand Representation
- Greet customers courteously and provide prompt, professional service.
- Handle customer inquiries politely and refer complaints to the Supervisor when necessary.
- Promote Compan’s image through professionalism, cleanliness, and integrity.
4. Cash Handling & Transaction Accuracy
- Accurately process cash, card, or approved electronic payments.
- Issue receipts and ensure correct transaction entries.
- Account for all fuel dispensed and cash received during the shift.
- Hand over cash and documentation accurately at shift end.
5. Equipment Care & Housekeeping
- Ensure pumps, hoses, nozzles, and forecourt areas are kept clean and functional.
- Report faulty equipment or irregular pump behavior immediately.
- Support general cleanliness and order of the station environment.
6. Loss Prevention & Integrity
- Prevent fuel losses through vigilance and adherence to procedures.
- Refuse unauthorized dispensing or suspicious transactions.
- Cooperate fully with supervisors and security in loss prevention measures.
Qualifications
- KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a pump attendant or in retail service is an added advantage.
- Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills.
- Ability to follow safety instructions and operational procedures.
