JOB PURPOSE

To support the Quality Control team in carrying out routine inspection, sampling, testing, documentation, and verification of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process products, finished products, and imported consignments to ensure they meet approved quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in inspecting and sampling raw materials, packaging materials, in-process products, finished products, and imported consignments.
  • Conduct basic physical and visual quality checks against approved specifications and procedures.
  • Assist with laboratory testing where applicable and under supervision.
  • Record all inspection and test results accurately in the relevant QC records and systems.
  • Assist in identifying and reporting non-conforming materials or products to the Quality team.
  • Support segregation and identification of non-conforming products to prevent unintended use or release.
  • Conduct routine in-process quality checks during production and repackaging activities, including weighing, filling, packaging, labelling, and product appearance.
  • Assist in checking product and packaging information for conformity with approved specifications.
  • Collect, label, and store retention samples in accordance with the company's retention sample requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining QC equipment, work areas, and testing materials in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Support monitoring of calibration status of QC equipment and report any overdue or defective equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate QC records, registers, and documentation.
  • Support investigations of quality issues, complaints, and non-conformances by providing relevant QC records and test results.
  • Support implementation of food safety, quality, hygiene, and GMP requirements within production and repackaging areas.
  • Participate in internal quality, food safety, and IMS activities as assigned.
  • Immediately report any critical quality or food safety concerns to the Quality Supervisor/Head of Quality.
  • Comply with company procedures, food safety requirements, health and safety rules, and applicable regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in food science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Recent graduate or currently undertaking an internship/industrial attachment in a relevant discipline.
  • Basic understanding of food quality, food safety, hygiene, and GMP principles.
  • Basic knowledge of sampling, inspection, and laboratory testing procedures is an advantage.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.
  • Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, internet, outlook).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced food manufacturing and repackaging environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety requirements consistently.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS)

  • Inspection & Sampling: Complete assigned inspections and sampling accurately and on time.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete QC records with minimal errors.
  • Non-Conformance Reporting: Promptly report identified quality and food safety deviations.
  • Retention Samples: Ensure required samples are correctly collected, labelled, and stored.
  • In-Process Checks: Complete assigned production and repackaging quality checks as scheduled.
  • Food Safety & GMP Compliance: Consistently adhere to hygiene, food safety, GMP, and company requirements.
  • Workplace Discipline: Demonstrate punctuality, teamwork, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
