JOB DETAILS:
BasiGo is looking for an experienced engineering professional in Nairobi to help us realize our vision for local manufacturing and electrified public transit. The Quality and Compliance Lead will be responsible for all things quality,regulatory and compliance. We are setting up a local assembly in Kenya and need the right person to lead new vehicle quality management, homologation, safety and regulatory compliance as we begin the process of CKD assembly of electric buses in Kenya.

Responsibilities:
• You will be responsible for homologation, regulatory compliance, safety within the engineering planning and coordination of the Complete Knock Down (CKD) and Local Assembly processes. This includes process audit and safety certification including interactions with relevant stakeholders including product management, vehicle process engineering and the relevant Kenyan regulatory agencies.
• You will be tasked with developing BasiGo’s Quality Management System for vehicle manufacturing and ensuring that the vehicles BasiGo delivers to customers meet the highest standards of quality. This will include defining quality requirements, establishing quality control processes for components and finished product, measuring performance against our quality standards such that BasiGo can continuously improve the quality of our vehicles and our manufacturing operations.
• You will help BasiGo develop and deliver compliance policies, procedures, plans, and guidelines to ensure that both governmental and industry regulations and standards are met in regards to CKD assembly of electric buses in Kenya.
• You will be able to understand and track company compliance with KS 372, KS 1515, ISO and Kenyan EV Standards, as well as other relevant regulations and their applicability to the CKD mandate for BasiGo locally assembled electric vehicles.

Our ideal candidate would have:
Required Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or relevant equivalent experience
• You must have a broad technical background with regulatory requirements and demonstrated experience on vehicle component compliance, testing and certification.
• Considerable industry experience in an automotive or related regulated field
• Good understanding and related experience in evaluating EV regulatory and process compliance
• Experience working with Kenyan regulatory & certification entities such as NTSA, KEBS, KRA, KABM and KAM
• Familiarity working with International Test Facilities i.e. IDIADA, UTAC/Millbrook (UK), ARAI(India), SGS or similar
• Background in writing or translating engineering and technical documents
• Able to manage compliance testing with independent labs & certification agencies
• Technical background in mechanical testing, electronics, and verifying safety & compliance

Skills and Attitude
• Confident and highly motivated
• Excellent written & oral communication skills, especially when dealing with overseas partners for whom English is a second language
• High level of accuracy & detail
• Working knowledge of regulations with a focus on homologation, safety compliance and compliance procedures
• Experience working with technical standards both locally and internationally
• Broad understanding of vehicle systems and their interactions
• Knowledge of global automotive regulations
• Proven Project management capability
• Presentation skills
• High levels of integrity
