St. Luke’s Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital is an ultra-modern hospital started in the year 2012, after operating as a clinic and an orthopaedics supplier since year 2005.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare patients and imaging machines for examinations.
  • Use x-rays, ultrasound, MRI and other forms of imaging technology to examine patients and perform a range of radiographic examinations on patients.
  • Deliver high quality diagnostic services and ensure high standards of diagnostic accuracy, reporting and documentation.
  • Take care of patients during and after examination and take responsibility for their safety and mental & physical comfort while they are in your care.
  • Provide emergency imaging services during and after office hours.
  • Liaise and consult with Radiologists regarding radiological findings.
  • Ensure consistency with procedure protocols, patient conditions, physical abilities and age requirements.
  • Keep up to date with health and safety guidelines, including ionising radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others.
  • Record the patients’ personal information in the patients register and ensure that the register is well kept.
  • Supervise visiting staff and patients in the procedure rooms and radiation work areas.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance, care, proper use and safety of medical equipment in your department.
  • Bill and ensure timely billing of all the services offered to patients/clients.
  • Conduct and participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME), Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and refresher courses.
  • Participate and serve in Clinical Committees such as Mortality, Clinical Audit, Infection Prevention & Control, Waste Management and other health committees.
  • Perform any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration and a current practicing license from the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority (KNRA) and/or relevant professional regulatory body.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ continuous working experience in a busy Level 4 hospital or above.
  • Demonstrated competence in conventional X-ray imaging. Experience in CT Scan, Fluoroscopy, Theatre Imaging (C-Arm), Mammography, or Ultrasound support will be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of radiation safety principles and quality assurance standards.
  • Computer literacy and experience using Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) will be an added advantage.
