The  RLO Program Advisor will play a critical role in supporting Inkomoko's mission in strengthening refugee-led organizations through strategic program development, capacity building, and organizational sustainability. This role combines hands-on advisory and facilitation work in three key areas: business development, training, and organizational capacity strengthening. The Advisor will work closely with the Program Manager and other program teams to expand funding opportunities, improve program delivery, and build institutional systems that support long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Mobilization(10%)

  • Identify and enroll RLOs based on the criteria for enrollment in the program and set clear expectations
  • Communicate program details to the community participants and confirm messages have been received.
  • Represent Inkomoko as an Ambassador, outreach to existing structures in the communities.
  • Advise on participants’ criteria to fit the culture and existing businesses in the community.
  • Communicate with Inkomoko leadership about any challenges faced by participants during program implementation

Organizational capacity development (50%)

  • Build RLO capacity in proposal development, including donor compliance, financial management, and reporting.
  • Track and analyze funding trends relevant to refugee-led initiatives and advise accordingly.
  • Design and deliver training programs to enhance RLO staff skills in areas such as program management, M&E, community engagement, and project sustainability.
  • Mentor and support RLO staff in applying participatory and refugee-centered approaches.
  • Facilitate peer learning, exchange visits, and communities of practice among local refugee-led organizations
  • Assess organizational capacity across governance, operations, HR, and financial management.
  • Co-develop action plans to address gaps in systems, policies, and structures.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans.
  • Advise on risk management, compliance, and good governance practices.

Client training( 20%)

  • Ensure that all the RLOs in the program are informed and attend all the training
  • Organize all the training logistics: printing training materials, setting up the training venue, recording attendance, and starting the training on time
  • Provide the training using Inkomoko training materials in Kiswahili and English
  • Review and advise the Senior Trainer on necessary changes to the training modules.
  • Complete all the training programs on time and within budget.

Business Consulting and client relationship(20%)

  • The intake process for entrepreneurs, including baseline M&E and tracking in our electronic system
  • Conducting monthly site visits to assess business needs and opportunities
  • Support and follow up on clients to ensure they are adopting the recommended business practices.
  • Provide informed, strategic, and realistic advice to help the RLO meet their objectives, or shift their objectives towards better sustainability/profitability
  • Ongoing site visits to provide real-time advising to address business changes and grow businesses
  • Connect clients to other Inkomoko services, including training and access to finance
  • Keep the RLOs’ business information in an accurate manner
  • Assist investment colleagues with investment applications, due diligence, and clients’ credit Payment

Requirements

What we are Looking For;

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, Business, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in program design, training, and/or capacity building in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Proven track record in securing grants from bilateral, multilateral, or philanthropic donors.
  • Experience working directly with refugee-led or community-based organizations is highly desirable.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English; Knowledge of the local language is an asset.
