Background

The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) is a leading humanitarian organization sustainably promoting the wellbeing, health and resilience of communities in Kenya. The Society is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the following position:

Position Summary

Reporting to the Head of Regions, the Regional Manager will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of the region to ensure effective and efficient implementation of programmes and operations. The incumbent will oversee the coordination of all KRCS activities within the region, ensuring alignment with the Society's strategic objectives and adherence to humanitarian principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and management of the region, ensuring effective implementation of KRCS programmes and projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee disaster preparedness, response, and recovery activities within the region.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with county governments, donors, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective resource mobilization and management for regional activities.
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and reporting for the region.
  • Provide leadership in staff management, capacity building, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with KRCS policies, procedures, and donor requirements.
  • Represent KRCS in regional forums and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration, or related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in programme management, with at least 3 years in a senior management position in a humanitarian or development organization.
  • Proven experience in disaster management, community development, and partnership building.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
