The MCH Regional Technical Manager has the following responsibilities:
Regional oversight & support to PPH Country Consultants
Supports achievement of project objectives through close collaboration with Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) Country Consultants responsible for implementing PPH activities in selected countries.
Supports the planning and implementation of demand generation, procurement, and supply chain management activities for maternal health medicines across the assigned region, under the guidance of the Senior Technical Manager for PPH workstream.
Technical coordination & quality assurance
Works closely with HQ technical teams and country representatives to ensure that approaches are standardized, and quality standards are maintained across activity implementation.
Coordinates, as appropriate, with other implementing partners in the region to align PPH-related demand generation, procurement, and supply chain strengthening efforts and identify opportunities for synergy.
Stakeholder engagement
Leads engagement with key regional stakeholders and, in coordination with PPH Country Consultants, supports national-level stakeholder engagement to ensure understanding of, and buy-in for, PPH project objectives.
Leads or helps facilitate external meetings or workshops with key stakeholders in the medicines supply chain and maternal health ecosystem.
Risk mitigation & reporting
Anticipates, identifies, and escalates risks affecting PPH activity implementation to MedSuRe leadership, and supports the development of mitigation strategies in coordination with HQ and country teams.
Collaborates with the PPH Country Consultants and HQ staff to ensure the documentation of the program activities and contributes to the development of materials for internal and external audiences, including routine donor reporting.
Travel & cross-cutting support
Conducts regular visits (approx. 30% travel) to assigned countries in the region to support PPH activity implementation and ensure effective planning with PPH Country Consultants and local teams.
Engages in other project activities as requested.
Who is USP Looking For?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy, public health, or a related field.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the field of global public health, working on procurement and supply chain management of maternal health medical products.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting multi-country or regional donor-funded programs in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Proven ability to communicate effectively, influence stakeholders, and to tailor messages to different audiences across diverse actors.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, meeting deadlines.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Fluency in English required. Fluency in French required for the West Africa–based position, given its role as a liaison with Francophone countries.
