The mandate of the Board is contained in section 59 of the County Government Acts 2012. These include establishing and abolishing offices in the County Public Service, appointing persons who hold and act in offices of the Public service among others.
Responsibilities or duties
- Collects pretreatment dialysis data
- Ensuring that dialysis treatments are administered to patients correctly.
- Checking and recording patients’ vitals before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Monitoring patients during dialysis treatment to identify any adverse reactions.
- Promptly notify the appropriate medical practitioner of any problems that occur during dialysis treatments.
- Working with the Biomedical team to ensure that dialysis machines and equipment are set up correctly
- Educating patients on dialysis treatment options, kidney disease management, as well as suitable nutrition and exercise regimens.
- Ensure accurate documentation, proper record keeping {and storage for continuity, quality, and legal reference.
- Assist medical staff in the overall care of the patient and to ensure the prescribed treatment is given.
- To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Charge Nurse from time to time.
Qualifications or requirements
- Higher Nursing Diploma in Nephrology
- Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution.
- Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
- Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya;
- Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution
