We’re building a last-mile delivery platform — an operationally complex, event-driven system that real businesses depend on. We’re looking for a mid-level Rails developer who can confidently build, refactor, and extend production code in a fast-moving, collaborative team.

What you’ll do

  • Build and extend core features of an event-driven Rails platform: parcel management, manifests, notifications, reporting.
  • Write clean, modular, domain-driven code built for long-term scalability.
  • Build internal tools and dashboards with Rails, Hotwire, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Design and maintain integrations with third-party services (M-Pesa, payment gateways, SMS/WhatsApp providers).
  • Work with background jobs, queues, and real-time updates as everyday tools, not afterthoughts.
  • Collaborate with senior developers on architecture, code reviews, testing, and deployments.

What we’re looking for

  • 2–3 years building real applications with Ruby on Rails.
  • Solid grasp of Rails MVC, RESTful and API-mode design, service objects, and background job processing (Sidekiq or similar).
  • Strong PostgreSQL fundamentals — relationships, query optimization, and a willingness to learn its more advanced corners.
  • Comfort integrating third-party APIs: payments, messaging, webhooks.
  • Fluency with Tailwind CSS or a similar utility-first framework.
  • A debugging, refactoring instinct and the discipline to write maintainable, well-structured code.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work independently when needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience with multi-tenant architecture, event-driven systems, or geospatial/location data.
  • Familiarity with Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus) or real-time features (WebSockets/ActionCable).

What we offer

  • KSh 40,000 – 45,000/month, based on skills and experience.
  • Unrivalved experience in a multi-tenant, event-driven, and scalable architecture.
  • A flexible, supportive, learning-oriented environment with a clear growth path.
