About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven School Business Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the school's financial operations, administrative functions, parent relations, and enrollment support activities. This position is ideal for a professional who combines strong accounting expertise with excellent administrative and customer service skills.

The role will contribute significantly to the smooth day-to-day running of the school while supporting sustainable growth through prudent financial management, efficient administration, and excellent stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and financial ledgers.
  • Manage fee billing, receipting, debt collection, and follow-up of outstanding balances.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports and expenditure statements.
  • Oversee petty cash management and ensure proper reconciliation and accountability.
  • Process payments, reimbursements, and staff advances.
  • Support termly budget preparation, monitoring, and expenditure control.
  • Maintain updated school financial records physically and in the system
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit processes and provide required financial documentation.
  • Develop and implement policies and controls measures
  • Update the school financial system on daily basis

Administration & Operations

  • Coordinate and manage daily administrative operations of the school.
  • Prepare official correspondence, notices, reports, and school communications.
  • Maintain accurate school records, databases, attendance registers, inventories, and filing systems.
  • Coordinate meetings, events, and staff schedules.
  • Supervise support staff to ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized school environment.
  • Oversee procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Maintain an updated inventory and asset register.
  • Manage the issuance and replenishment of stationery, textbooks, exercise books, and other school supplies.
  • Ensure confidentiality of school, staff, parent, and learner records.

Parent Relations & Customer Service

  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries and concerns.
  • Provide accurate information regarding school fees, programs, and policies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians.

Marketing & Enrollment Support

  • Participate in marketing and enrollment activities.
  • Conduct school tours for prospective parents and learners.
  • Support communication through WhatsApp, email, newsletters, and other platforms.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at increasing student enrollment and retention.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting and administration.
  • Experience working in a school environment will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in customer service and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance and financial reporting requirements.
