Our client, a well-established learning institution, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and values-driven School Principal to provide strategic leadership in curriculum implementation, school administration, and overall institutional management in line with the Ministry of Education (Kenya) requirements.

The successful candidate will serve as the lead educator and administrator, responsible for academic excellence, staff leadership, learner development, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Academic Leadership & Curriculum Management

  • Guide and oversee effective implementation of the approved curriculum and syllabi
  • Maintain high teaching and learning standards across the school
  • Monitor lesson attendance, rescheduling, and learner progress
  • Supervise preparation and use of schemes of work, lesson plans, and timetables
  • Track learner progress, value addition, IEPs, and skills development records
  • Promote continuous teacher professional development

School Administration & Governance

  • Provide overall leadership in institutional administration
  • Maintain accurate learner enrolment and staffing establishment records
  • Issue job descriptions and performance targets to teaching staff
  • Oversee teacher performance appraisal and analysis
  • Manage school assets, records, and statutory documentation
  • Ensure compliance with education laws, regulations, and policies
  • Liaise with senior management and key stakeholders
  • Resolve complaints and maintain proper records

People Management & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, coach, and motivate teaching staff
  • Oversee onboarding, induction, and disciplinary processes
  • Approve leave, offs, and emergency permissions
  • Participate in school and departmental meetings
  • Monitor staff attendance registers, duty rotas, and records

Health, Safety & Welfare

  • Implement and monitor health and safety measures
  • Coordinate fire drills, first aid arrangements, and emergency procedures
  • Establish and support a Health & Safety Committee
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant learning environment

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with learners, parents, staff, and stakeholders
  • Maintain records of parental involvement and stakeholder engagement
  • Liaise with regulatory and professional bodies (KNEC, KICD, MOE, SEMASE)
  • Maintain visitors’ records and official correspondence

Co-Curricular Activities & Learner Development

  • Support and participate in co-curricular and team-building activities
  • Oversee clubs, patrons, awards, and learner achievements
  • Act as a role model and mentor to learners and staff
