Senior Development, Security & Operations Engineer (DevSecOps)
Overall Purpose:
The Senior Development and Security Operations Engineer plays a critical role in overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of IT development and security protocols across organizational systems and networks. This role integrates DevOps, system operations, level 2 support, and cybersecurity responsibilities to ensure a secure, scalable, and highly available IT infrastructure.
The position involves continuous monitoring of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems to detect and respond to security threats, investigation of security incidents, execution of vulnerability assessments, and provision of advanced technical support. The engineer ensures 24/7 system availability while minimizing downtime and operational risks.
The role also emphasizes governance, policy enforcement, and compliance. The engineer establishes, enforces, and documents infrastructure, security, and disaster recovery policies aligned with regulatory and audit requirements. In addition, the role includes mentoring team members, promoting best practices, and leading by example to maintain high performance, accountability, and security standards across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
IT Development
- Collaborate with software development teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure systems.
- Develop, test, and deploy applications in line with organizational and industry standards.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and availability. Maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, processes, and changes.
Security Operations
- Monitor and manage security tools and infrastructure to detect, prevent, and respond to threats.
- Conduct regular security assessments, including vulnerability scans and penetration testing.
- Implement security controls such as firewalls, encryption, and data protection mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead incident response activities and implement corrective actions following security events.
Operations and Collaboration
- Maintain secure and efficient CI/CD pipelines for application deployment.
- Work closely with infrastructure and network teams to ensure systems are secure and efficient.
- Provide technical guidance on secure coding practices and train staff on security awareness and best practices.
Training and Knowledge Transfer
- Deliver training sessions on compliance requirements, monitoring tools, and operational best practices.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to strengthen team capability and mentor junior team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Key Performance Indicators
- Percentage reduction in security vulnerabilities.
- Uptime and performance metrics for deployed applications.
- Compliance adherence to security standards and audits.
- Resolution time for security incidents and system issues.
- Minimal Number of system gap and advice on upgrades required
- Customer Satisfaction
- 100% Customer reported problems resolution.
- Ability to Mentor & lead
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of systems, servers, and programming
- Proven experience in IT development and/or security operations.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus solutions).
- Platforms, data privacy laws, and security compliance standards including GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Proven experience in IT development and/or security operations.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus solutions).
