MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruitment Coordination – Oversee the full recruitment and selection cycle, including developing job descriptions, advertising vacancies, managing shortlisting, coordinating interviews, and facilitating onboarding to ensure the timely engagement of qualified and diverse talent.
- Records Management – Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files, contracts, leave data, and payroll information, in line with institutional and statutory requirements for data integrity and compliance.
- Employee Relations – Foster a positive work environment by serving as the primary contact for HR-related matters, providing guidance and support to staff and management on employee relations issues, and promoting open communication across the university.
- Disciplinary Management – Administer disciplinary and grievance procedures in accordance with university policies and Kenyan labour laws, ensuring fair and timely resolution of staff issues while maintaining procedural integrity.
- Welfare & Engagement – Develop and implement employee welfare and engagement initiatives aimed at enhancing staff satisfaction, morale, and overall organisational commitment.
- Performance Management – Coordinate the university’s performance management framework, ensuring consistent implementation of appraisal systems, feedback mechanisms, and reward strategies that drive accountability and excellence.
- Training & Development – Identify training needs, design and implement staff development programmes, and evaluate training effectiveness to build institutional capacity and support professional growth.
- Employment Law and Compliance – Interpret and apply labour laws, employment regulations, and university policies to ensure legal compliance and adherence to best HR practices, advising management on emerging HR legislative issues.
- Health & Safety – Support the implementation and monitoring of occupational health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with statutory safety standards and promoting a culture of wellbeing across the university.
- Reporting – Prepare and present periodic HR reports, analytics, and insights to management to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement in HR service delivery.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field from a recognized institution
- CHRP certification or Higher Diploma in HR will be an added advantage
- A minimum of eight (8) years’ working experience with at least three(3) years in a senior role
- Membership with IHRM (Kenya) is mandator
