Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Population and Social Statistics, the job holder will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring activities in the Social Statistics Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing survey programmes in the areas of Education, Health, Gender and Governance, Peace and Security Statistics;
  • Coordinating the design, development and review of administrative data collection instruments in areas of Education, Health, Gender and Governance, Peace and Security Statistics;
  • Coordinating the collection, compilation and analysis of Education Statistics; Health Statistics; of Gender Statistics; and Governance, Peace and Security Statistics;
  • Coordinating development of concept papers and proposals for the overall technical development of Social Statistics;
  • Coordinating the provision of indicators for monitoring social sector performance;
  • Establishing, maintaining and deploying appropriate systems for measuring and evaluating data quality of Social Statistics;
  • Monitoring and assessing quality of Statistics produced by data producers;
  • Monitoring statistical trends of national, regional and international Social Statistics;
  • Developing, maintaining and updating Social Statistics databases;
  • Producing and providing Social Statistics relating to international and regional agencies that Kenya is party to; and data subscribers/users;
  • Writing and submitting technical reports on specific subject(s);
  • Ensuring that statistical standards and methods are maintained;
  • Managing and developing staff within the Division;
  • Undertaking any other duties lawfully assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Must have served in the grade of Manager, Statistics or equivalent position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: -; Statistics; Economics, Mathematics; or any related qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Must have a Master Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Statistics; Economics, Mathematics or any other related qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Must have a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program lasting not less than six (6) weeks or any other related qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Must be proficient in ICT skills;
  • Must have analytical, financial and human resource management skills;
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment
