Responsibilities or duties

We are seeking to hire two Senior Production Operators who will be responsible for leading safe and efficient day-to-day field production operations at wellsites and surface facilities. The role will supervise production crews, ensure reliable operation of production systems, support routine maintenance activities, and act as first-line escalation for operational issues in remote onshore environments.

Qualifications or requirements

The ideal candidates must have strong upstream oil & gas field operations experience with proven leadership in production operations and hydrocarbon handling systems.

Experience needed

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in upstream oil & gas production operations, with at least two (2) years in a senior or lead operator role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coach production operators and field crews during shift operations, ensuring safe execution of tasks and adherence to operational procedures.
  • Operate and monitor surface production systems including wellheads, chokes, separators, flowlines, pumps, compressors, metering systems, and test facilities to meet production and HSE targets.
  • Execute start-up, shutdown, pigging, flowback, choke management, and production stabilization activities in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections, preventive maintenance activities, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting, and raise maintenance work orders for corrective actions.
  • Perform daily production rounds, sampling, pressure and flow measurements, and ensure accurate shift handover documentation and logs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout procedures, process safety standards, and emergency response protocols.
  • Lead well testing and production testing activities in coordination with engineers and service providers to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Respond to abnormal operating conditions, implement immediate corrective actions, and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, including logbooks, production reports, meter reconciliations, and shift summaries to support production reporting integrity.
  • Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of production chemicals in compliance with HSSEQ and environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, logistics, and contractor teams to support planned interventions, maintenance activities, and equipment mobilization.
  • Mentor and train junior operators, promoting strong safety culture, operational discipline, and continuous skill development.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of safe and reliable production operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Operations, Process Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Strong hands-on experience in onshore production operations, including wellsite and surface facility operations.
  • Strong knowledge of surface production equipment including wellheads, separators, chokes, compressors, pumps, and metering systems.
  • Experience in production testing, well surveillance, sampling procedures, and basic operational data interpretation.
  • Understanding of flow assurance principles, multiphase flow behavior, and production system operations.
  • Familiarity with HSSEQ systems including permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, process safety management, and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and crew supervision skills in field environments.
  • Basic computer literacy and experience using production reporting systems or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) will be an added advantage.
  • Certifications in H2S, First Aid, Confined Space, Permit-to-Work, or similar safety training will be an added advantage.
