KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal Development

Demonstrate the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and well-structured funding proposals. Strong research and writing skills are essential. The ideal candidate is self-driven, detail-oriented, highly organized, and proficient in computer applications. They should be able to perform well under pressure, gather and synthesize information effectively, and communicate it in a concise and compelling manner. A solid understanding of budgeting in the context of grants and proposals is crucial. Preferred candidates are deadline-oriented team players with excellent multitasking skills and a strong commitment to HFH Kenya’s mission.

Strategic Collaboration

Collaborate with the Partnership Manager, Senior Management Team, and other members of the Partnerships and Programs Departments to implement HFH Kenya’s resource mobilization strategy, supporting the achievement of the 2020–2025 Strategy and Business Plan.

Resource Mobilization Planning

Develop an annual resource mobilization plan and conduct market research to identify global funding opportunities and upcoming calls for proposals.

Grant Proposal Preparation

Lead the preparation of high-quality grant proposals, including:

  • Conducting in-depth research on projects and donor requirements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design new programs and project concepts
  • Guiding the integration of programmatic and financial input into proposals and donor reports
  • Supporting the development of budgets, timelines, work plans, and other required documentation
  • Delivering presentations and securing letters of support as needed

Grant Tracking and Management

  • Maintain a comprehensive tracking system for projects and grant applications, monitoring deadlines, application requirements, budgets and reporting obligations.

Multi-Grant Coordination

  • Manage multiple grant applications concurrently, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

Fundraising Pipeline Monitoring

  • Track and evaluate HFH Kenya’s fundraising pipeline, providing regular updates and reports to the Partnerships Manage and Senior Management Team.

Mission Alignment

  • Consistently demonstrate alignment with the and commitment to HFH Kenya’s mission and values.

Organizational Knowledge

  • Maintain a strong understanding of HFH Kenya’s history programs, and strategic priorities.

Strategic Contribution

  • Actively contribute to the execution of HFH Kenya’s overall strategy.

Qualification and Experience Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in project management, International Development, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in successful grant writing.
  • Prior experience working with Habitat for Humanity Kenya (HFHK) is an added advantage.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

  • Proven ability to set, measure, and achieve income generation targets.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising tools, platforms, and information sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to tailor complex information into persuasive content for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated strength in building collaborative relationships and working effectively within teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.

Key Performance Indicators

Resources Mobilized:

  • Number of approved and funded concept notes and proposals
