ABOUT THE ROLE

Buckner Kenya is registered in Kenya as an NGO to transform the lives of vulnerable children, and build strong families. (Please visit https://www.bucknerkenya.org/). The NGO is seeking Social Workers to monitor assigned processes of child reintegration and post-reintegration, in the best interests of the children and adolescents.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out client case management, crisis interventions, and prepare related progress reports.
  • Train foster parents as per identified and documented training needs.
  • Carry out socio-economic research (80% field work and 20% administrative).
  • Participate in multidisciplinary evaluation and psychosocial diagnoses of assigned cases.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and monitor foster children and foster families.
  • Nurture formal relationships with external service providers, consultants, agencies, and organizations to improve service delivery to clients.
  • Ensure accurate records, and documentation; providing timely reports, feedback and logistical support.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. University degree in Social Work (master’s degree preferred).
  2. Active member of a relevant professional association (provide proof).
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication, including accurate professional writing and speaking skills using professional technical language, desirably in English.

  1. Professional Ethical Behavior-Adhere to professional codes of ethics (integrity, accountability, keeping professional boundaries, self-awareness, self-management of personal biases, and commitment to lifelong learning and supervision).
  2. Human Rights-Respect for human dignity and worth (promote social justice, equity, and inclusion, advocate for vulnerable and marginalized populations, and promote anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practices).
  3. Excellent Communication Skills-Active listening and empathy, clear verbal and written communication, culturally sensitive interaction, and effective documentation and report writing.
  4. Cultural Competence-Good understanding of diverse cultural, social, and spiritual backgrounds, able to adapt to different cultural contexts, and work productively with diverse communities.
  5. Collaboration-Working effectively with other professionals (healthcare, education, judicial).
