Artemis Outsourcing Limited is a regional-focused multi-disciplinary Consulting firm providing technical assistance in Human resource management, Talent acquisition, Training and staff development, capacity building, Fund management, Project management and Research.
Global ID SA and Artemis Outsourcing are conducting the piloting of a multi-view vein-based biometric patient authentication system for the Kenya Health Information System. The Software Engineer / Infrastructure Support Officer will be responsible for providing technical support, ensuring system functionality, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and supporting the integration of the biometric system into various Health Information Systems.
Responsibilities or duties
Provide first-line technical support for software and hardware-related issues.
Diagnose and resolve system performance issues and errors.
Assist in setting up and configuring biometric authentication devices.
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
Support the integration of the biometric system with HIS.
Assist in testing and evaluating system functionality.
Work closely with developers to ensure software updates and patches are applied timely.
Train healthcare staff on system usage and troubleshooting basics.
Provide ongoing support to end-users and escalate complex issues as necessary.
Maintain logs of technical issues and resolutions.
Prepare regular reports on system performance and support activities.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT support, software engineering, or infrastructure management.
Proficiency in troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
Familiarity with Kenya’s Health Information System (KHIS) and digital health technologies is desirable.
Experience with biometric authentication systems is an added advantage.
Experience with Cloud and On-Premise deployments
Basic networking troubleshooting including, TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN
Experience with containerized applications /Docker
Linux/Windows system administration
Knowledge of Continuous Integration /Continuous Delivery basics
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
Key Competencies:
Strong communication and training abilities.
Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
High level of adaptability to field conditions.
Excellent technical troubleshooting skills.
