Our client operates an AI-Powered Omnichannel Contact Center solution that enables clients deliver exceptional customer experiences. Clients are able to engage customers on their preferred channels—Voice, WhatsApp, Email, Instagram, Facebook, Live Chat, or SMS, from a single, unified dashboard. They have retained our services to support hiring process for a Solutions Architect, Telephony. We seek to discuss this opportunity with an experienced Solutions Architect to lead the end-to-end architecture, design, development, and implementation of the telephony architecture for the next-generation omni-channel, cloud-based contact center platform.

Job Purpose/Your Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will act as the technical authority shaping product strategy, architectural direction, and delivery—ensuring seamless interoperability across telco networks, cloud environments, and enterprise systems. You will define the platform’s technical roadmap, architect its core voice infrastructure, and ensure secure, scalable, high-quality PSTN integrations (SIP over internet, SBC connectivity, partner interconnects). You will bring deep expertise in PSTN connectivity, SIP-based communications, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), PABX integration, and hands-on engagement with telecommunications service providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, design, document the high-level and detailed architecture of a cloud-native omni-channel contact centre solution end to end (voice, chat, email, social, IVR, routing, analytics, APIs etc).
  • Architect solutions across SIP, VoIP, PSTN ingress/egress, SIP trunking, call flows, SBCs, PABX and cloud telephony platforms.
  • Ensure architecture aligns with scalability, multi-tenancy, resilience, performance, observability, data privacy, security, global high availability and compliance requirements.
  • Drive end-to-end design documentation including logical/physical architectures, integration patterns, and deployment models.
  • Provide technical direction to product managers and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle, and lead technical discovery sessions to capture requirements, constraints, and business goals.
  • Develop detailed high-level and low-level architecture diagrams, engineering documentation, and implementation plans.
  • Architect and guide implementation of SIP connectivity over the public internet, including encryption (TLS/SRTP), routing, and failover patterns.
  • Define SBC (Session Border Controller) integration approaches for secure, compliant, enterprise-grade PSTN connectivity.
  • Design API-first integration patterns with CRMs, ERP, workflow platforms, ticketing systems, identity platforms, analytics engines, and third-party AI systems.
  • Define integration blueprints for partners already connected to the PSTN to seamlessly onboard onto the platform.
  • Engage directly with telco carriers, SBC vendors, cloud service providers, and integration partners.
  • Work closely with sales teams to support RFPs, proposals, demos, and technical presentations.
  • Ensure architecture compliance with enterprise policies, disaster recovery, performance SLAs, security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define integration patterns, development standards, and architecture guidelines.

Required Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in voice engineering, telephony, or contact center operations or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of:VoIP, SIP/RTP, SBCs, SBCs, PSTN, DID management and Contact center routing (ACD, IVR, skills based routing).
  • IVR frameworks, conversational AI/NLU platforms (e.g., Amazon Lex, Dialogflow, Genesys Architect), CTI, call flows, routing logic, ACD/WFM systems
  • Cloud or on-prem voice platforms (Genesys, Amazon Connect, Cisco, Avaya, NICE, 8x8, Twilio, etc.).
  • Experience analyzing SIP logs, call traces, QoS metrics, and carrier signaling.
  • Ability to build, read, and troubleshoot call flows and routing logic.
  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals (QoS, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, DNS).
  • Ability to create technical documentation (HLD/LLD), solution diagrams, and architectural artifacts.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong API, microservices, and integration architecture knowledge.
