The Spatial Data Management Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the development, governance, and continuous enhancement of spatial data management practices across the organisation. The role is responsible for ensuring spatial data is accurate, accessible, compliant, and aligned with operational and business requirements.
This position provides technical expertise across spatial data governance, metadata management, data quality assurance, automation, and spatial data exchange processes. The role works closely with internal teams, government agencies, utilities, consultants, and external data providers to support effective integration, management, and use of enterprise spatial data.
The Specialist also contributes to the implementation of new spatial technologies, automation initiatives, and enterprise data management capabilities that improve operational efficiency and data reliability.
Requirements
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Science, Spatial Information Systems, Geomatics, Surveying, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with spatial datasets, GIS technologies, and enterprise spatial data environments
Strong hands-on experience with Esri GIS platforms and spatial data management tools
Advanced proficiency in FME and other spatial data automation and transformation technologies
Proven experience in data analysis using SQL and Spatial SQL
Strong understanding of enterprise information systems, data governance, metadata management, and data quality principles
Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated spatial data workflows and processes
Knowledge of spatial data access policies, licensing requirements, and compliance standards
Experience supporting spatial data exchange and integration across internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to deliver technical outcomes within fast-paced and evolving environments
Experience working with spatial imagery, LiDAR, and enterprise asset data environments will be an added advantage
