Background

Mirema School, a leading Christian institution, is seeking a qualified and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead the Special Needs and Learning Support Department. The successful candidate will champion inclusive education, coordinate learner support services, and promote academic excellence in line with the school's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learner Assessment & Support: Coordinate the identification, assessment, and support of learners with special educational needs.
  • Inclusive Education: Support teachers in implementing inclusive teaching strategies and appropriate classroom accommodations.
  • Parent & Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with parents, teachers, school leaders, and specialists.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records, and provide reports.
  • Department Leadership: Lead the Special Needs and Learning Support Department.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure learning support programmes comply with school policies.
  • Staff Development: Facilitate training and coaching to strengthen inclusive teaching practices.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate specialised learning resources and assistive technologies.

Requirements:

  • 5 years relevant subject matter teaching experience and/or 4 years relevant managerial/leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Needs Education.
  • TSC Registration.
  • Valid certificate of good conduct.

  • Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
