About This Role
The Communications and Marketing Specialist drives strategies that position ChildFund Kenya as a preferred partner for donors, strategic partners, and key stakeholders. The role will focus on boosting the organization’s visibility, strengthening its brand, and supporting fundraising efforts through compelling results-driven marketing and communications initiatives. The specialist will translate ChildFund’s program impact and priorities into engaging donor-focused content that attract, inspire and retain the interest of donors and partners.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Marketing and Brand Visibility
Develop and roll out a communications and marketing strategy that directly supports ChildFund Kenya’s resource mobilization strategy.
Create engaging, donor-focused materials that clearly communicate impact and value.
Work with programs and fundraising teams to turn technical information into compelling stories and visuals for donors and partners.
Identify and act on visibility opportunities including conferences, media features, partnerships, and campaigns, that strengthen ChildFund Kenya’s brand presence locally and globally.
Ensure all communication and marketing products are consistent with ChildFund’s global brand and meet donor communication standards.
2. Content and Donor Engagement
Develop tailored communication packages and powerful stories that show donors how their support is driving real change for children, families, and communities.
Lead the creation of impact stories, videos, infographics, and features that bring ChildFund’s work and results to life.
Manage a content library with ready-to-use assets for proposals, donor and partner engagements.
3. Digital Communication and Campaigns
Grow ChildFund Kenya’s digital footprint and engagement through the country office website, social media, newsletters, blogs, and online campaigns targeting donors and partners.
Design and run digital campaigns that boost visibility, attract new supporters, and deepen engagement.
Track performance using analytics tools and use insights to improve reach, engagement, and conversion.
Collaborate with regional and global teams on joint digital storytelling and fundraising initiatives.
4. Partnerships and Media Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with media, influencers, corporate partners, and donors to increase visibility and credibility.
Work with internal and external teams to highlight partnerships, donor contributions, and key milestones.
Prepare press releases, media kits, and talking points for events and donor-funded initiatives.
Lead the design and production of flagship publications like annual reports, program studies, and thought leadership pieces.
5. Collaboration and Capacity Building
Partner with programs, sponsorship, advocacy, and fundraising teams to align messaging and storytelling priorities.
Train and support Local Implementing Partners to document impact stories and visuals that meet donor and brand standards.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and learning by documenting case studies, lessons learned, and best practices.
Participate in regional communication and fundraising networks to share Kenya’s work and amplify impact stories.
6. Crisis Communication
Help manage sensitive communication issues and maintain brand reputation when needed.
Required Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Development Communication, or related field; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Additional training in digital marketing, donor communications, or nonprofit branding is an asset.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in marketing, communications, fundraising communication, – preferably in the development or nonprofit sector.
