Description

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Stock & Costing Accountant to join our manufacturing operations in Tigoni. The role is responsible for inventory accounting, cost control, and effective stock management across the factory and company outlets. The successful candidate will play a key role in stock takes, costing, variance analysis, and supporting management decision-making through accurate and timely financial reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in periodic and ad-hoc stock takes at the factory and all company outlets.
  • Reconcile physical stock counts with system records and prepare variance reports, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Monitor and account for stock movements between factories, warehouses, and retail outlets.
  • Perform product costing, standard costing, and cost allocation for manufactured products.
  • Prepare and analyze cost and inventory variance reports and recommend cost control measures.
  • Work closely with production, stores, and procurement teams to ensure accurate stock usage and costing.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing stock and costing schedules and documentation.
  • Strengthen inventory controls, procedures, and systems across the organization.
  • Prepare monthly management reports related to inventory and production costs.
  • Provide relief and backup support to other accountants within the finance department.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA (K) qualification – fully qualified or at advanced level.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and stock control.
  • Experience working with ERP or accounting systems (NAV, QuickBooks).
  • Good understanding of Kenyan tax and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Team player with flexibility to support other finance functions.
